Stacey Adler, Secretary of the Board
As a Cardiac Nurse at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, I provided emotional and medical support to patients and families from varying cultures, backgrounds, and lifestyles during extremely stressful circumstances. This wonderful experience working with under served communities instilled a sense of compassion and gratitude for my family’s blessings, and has encouraged me to instill these same values in my family.
I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and continued my advanced education in Southern California. I have a background in the arts and graduated in 2002 from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Arts and Film. I returned to school and earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Mount St. Mary’s College in 2005 and continued to earn a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of California Los Angeles in 2009. That same year, I earned my certificate as a Certified Pediatric Nurse.
Over the course of my ten years in transplant and cardiac patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, I learned to adapt my patient care to the various families and situations I helping out with on a daily basis. I was constantly reminded that families come in all shapes and sizes. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles taught all their employees to consider the entire family as your patient and focused on family centered care.
I became involved with A Magic Penny because this wonderful organization is dedicated to instilling compassion and gratitude in young children and their families in an age appropriate way. I love that like Children’s Hospital, A Magic Penny has a family centered focus and includes the entire family in their philanthropic work.
As a board member of A Magic Penny, I remain active in the philanthropic activities of the organization as well as assist in the growth and future of this wonderful organization.
