I am honored to serve on the executive board of The Magic Penny, which was started by my daughter, Lauren. Through this organization my children and grandchildren have become active participants in the art of giving by doing. The concept of families volunteering together has always been dear to my heart.

I am a credentialed Art Specialist, having graduated from the University of Michigan. Presently I hold an array of classes for children and adults in my own studio. In the past I have worked in the Los Angeles Public Schools, teaching and designing art programs for students, ranging from those with special needs to children who are gifted. I worked as an art educator in magnet schools and developed art history/fine arts programs to be used in elementary school classrooms. At the Los Angeles Museum of Art I was an instructor in the Art Education Department as well as a volunteer docent. I especially enjoyed giving workshops for Family Daysand Adult “Evenings for Educators” presentations. In addition, I most enjoy creating my own art, from painting and drawing to sculpture.

It was my pleasure to have been an active board member of various non-profit organizations such as the Reiss-Davis Clinic and Los Angeles Music and Art School, which focuses on making the arts available to all children. Being affiliated with the California Art Association and the National Art Association, I am committed to making creativity an avenue for us all to enjoy.

My current involvement for many years has been with the Los Angeles Public Library Docents, serving as past president. At Central Library I give art and architecture tours to groups of all ages, hopefully imparting the significance of this historic building to people from all over the world.

A Magic Penny encompasses what I have believe inlove of family, giving and compassion for those in need.
