Time: 3:30pm
Location: My Gym Encino

Join A Magic Penny at our Giving Back Workshop on Friday, May 6th at 3:30-5:30pm at My Gym in Encino.

This illuminating event will empower kids of all ages to make a difference in the world. It will also give parents tools to raise philanthropic children. In addition, we will organize tons of diapers to donate to families in need. Just in time for Mother’s Day!

There will be two simultaneous hands-on workshops, one for children and one for parents and caregivers. Children will explore the topic of giving back through fun, developmentally appropriate activities with our Director of Education, Tracy Wiessbrod, M.S.Ed. After brainstorming community service ideas in general, they will discuss the importance of having access to diapers. The children will sort and graph the donated diapers to see the power of individuals teaming up to give back.

Adults will participate in group activities and a discussion with Marissa Nadjarian, advisor to AMP and founder of Philanthroparent. With an overarching theme of raising socially conscious families, they will consider how to view service as a valuable part of their daily lives. Adults will explore ideas about philanthropy and volunteering in the local and global community.

Entrance into My Gym and participation in the workshop is free for AMP members who bring a diaper donation. The diapers can be any size, and can be either new packs or individual diapers from opened packages. There will be diaper collection bins at Play Destination in Agoura Hills and at My Gym in Encino throughout the month of April up until this workshop. We will combine the diapers in these bins with those donated at the workshop. They will all benefit the families at Ascencia, a homeless shelter in Glendale.
